The SoMuchWorld family of sites, which includes this site, its Reviews companion site, TravelBookmarking.com, and the Travel Writers Collective is product of a number of organisations, based in and around Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Team

Technologies

All the sites are powered by the open source Drupal web application/CMS framework. They use a host of existing 3rd party Drupal modules as well as a significant number of custom-developed modules. The sites are hosted on servers running Ubuntu Linux using 100% open source software: Apache webserver, Postfix mail server, MySQL database, and many other tools.

Standards

All development strives for relevant open web standards compliance: XHTML 1.0 Strict for web page mark-up, CSS 2.0 for styling. Developers have tested the site's functionality on Mozilla Firefox (Linux, MS Windows, Mac OS X), Opera (Linux, MS Windows, Mac OS X), Safari (Mac OS X, MS Windows), Konqueror (Linux) and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (MS Windows only). The developers recommend that users choose a standards compliant web browser.
